“He was a shepherd to all of our residents and a counselor to all of our staff” says Londonderry Village President, Jeff Shireman while speaking fondly of our former Chaplain Norman Yeater.
Rev. Dr. Norman Yeater was the chaplain for Londonderry Village for over 17 years. He made such an impact on our community and brightened each life he touched before his untimely passing in 2013.

On Sunday, February 3, Londonderry Village held a stain glass window and prayer room dedication in honor of the late Chaplain Yeater or Norm as many referred to him. Over 150 guests attended which included Londonderry Village residents, staff, community friends and family of Norm, specifically his wife and three daughters. This was a special time to honor and remember Norm’s remarkable life and lasting impact he made in our community. Londonderry resident, Bonnie Harris played beautiful hymns on the piano throughout the ceremony. Many guests shared stories, memories and kind words about Norm’s beautiful life. His three daughters even sang “He’s Always Been Faithful” which was a true testament to the way Norm lived his life.
The LV Auxiliary made the prayer room furnishings possible and the beautiful stained glass art created through the generosity of an anonymous donor. Our residents now have a nice, quiet prayer room they can use to pray, reflect, and even mediate in.

Cumberland Stained Glass designed and installed the stained glass artwork. Pictures and memories from Norm’s life provided the artists with inspiration. This glass shows Norm’s true love of people, music and the importance of his faith and service. Those passing through our Snell Community Center can see this piece of art and reflect back on the wonderful man Norm was.

This beautiful ceremony concluded with guests gathering by the newly unveiled stained glass piece and joining in song, as Norm would have wanted.
Although all life ends, it does not mean it is ever forgotten. Londonderry Village is appreciative to Norm, his family and the love, fellowship and servanthood he provided to our community for such a long time. May he rest in peace.
